Joe Edens is founder of Edens & Avant and Chairman of the Board of Directors. He has been involved in commercial real estate for over four decades, beginning as an entrepreneurial developer in the mid-1960s. Edens developed his first grocery-anchored shopping center in 1967 and continued to build this portfolio by developing and acquiring neighborhood and community retail centers. Under his direction, Edens & Avant secured private equity investments in the 1990s, and the Company portfolio has since grown to more than 140 centers in 14 states with assets valued at around $3 billion. As Chairman, Edens provides operational insight and maintains well-established relationships with capital resources as well as retailers. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and the
South Carolina Nature Conservancy, and in 2009 he was inducted into the South Carolina Business Hall of Fame. |
